We are pleased to offer an expertly pre-sewn sample of the Carmel Doll Shop Exclusive pattern entitled “Jouet.” Jeffrey Cook of Maison Jeffrey, has created an opportunity to costume our popular “Bébé Angélique” doll as a charming little boy named “Andre” or to create a brother and sister pair. This costume was inspired by a trend for formal boys costumes in the 1880’s which was influenced by the popular Fraces Hodgson Burnett novel “Little Lord Fauntlery” published in 1886. The ensemble has our young man dressed in his holiday best, his eyes aglow and eager to receive the delightful toys (“Jouets” ) and games of the holiday season. It would also be perfect for a visiting costume or for an elegant “outing” look when La mère must have her little gentleman on prominent display. The two piece ensemble, in lush plum hued velvet, includes knee length breeches and a short jacket over a snow white cotton blouse trimmed in lace. The costume is adorned with ochre silk and jacquard ribbons, plum satin edging, and gold tone buttons. The jacket is lined in fine ochre cotton. A cap in plum velvet, trimmed with ochre silk ribbon completes the presentation.
