Costumed Doll: "Belinda" wearing "Through the Woods"

$1,050.00

We are pleased to offer an opportunity to purchase a fully-dressed Belinda doll. She is costumed in a lovely ensemble entitled "Through the Woods.”

The Doll: “Belinda Noble” is our exclusive, artist-created Georgian Wooden expertly crafted and painted by the esteemed doll artist, Karen Clohessy, of Perth, Western Australia. The mold used to create Belinda was taken from an actual antique wooden example doll from the Grovian Doll Museum Collection.
Belinda is cast in a high-quality resin that captures all of the nuances of the carved wood of the original doll. Her expressive face features beautiful modeling with a high forehead, full cheeks with vivid blushing, a sweetly tapered chin, and full, rose red lips with a light gloss. Her wise eyes, in traditional glossy black, are framed by delicately dotted brows and eyeliner, while each wig, of natural flax, was handmade by Michael Canadas. The wig is coiffed with the curls and styling details that are hallmarks of period hairstyles. (Each wig is unique, non-removable, and will present variations in style.) Her body features a head and torso as one, with a gently curved bosom and a nipped waist; perfect to model the striking and dramatically proportioned fashions of her day. True to an original doll of this era, her body features jointed upper legs and knees, and her stuffed cotton upper arms attach to the shoulders and terminate in “carved,” graceful, forked hands.
Each doll measures approximately: 15 5/8” tall (excluding wig)

The Costume: A young lady in the early to mid-18th century would wear a costume consisting of a petticoat, gown and a hat or head covering. Created for our exclusive Georgian Wooden artist dolls “Belinda Noble” and “Dido Washington,” this gown of lightweight Indian print cotton in hues of violet and aubergine, features a fitted bodice, peplum waist and open front trimmed in pinked ruffles. The fitted 3/4 length sleeves are trimmed in a single layer of pinked ruffles. The petticoat and stomacher are made of cream linen with an allover soutache design. This ensemble includes a Colonial era wardrobe essential in the form of a flannel cloak, in rich cardinal red. The cloak features a generously gathered wired hood with face framing ruffles, a cranberry red embossed velvet ribbon tie at the chin, and a red cotton lining. Two pieces of headwear are included in the kit: a cotton mob cap trimmed in crocheted lace and cranberry red velvet ribbon, plus a low crowned brimmed hat covered in a delicately patterned violet and aubergine cotton - trimmed in aubergine ribbon. Handmade leather slippers included.

$1050.00
