Please allow us to introduce “Monsieur Royale.” This Georgian Wooden artisan doll is expertly crafted by the esteemed doll artist, Karen Clohessy, of Perth, Western Australia, while the mold used to create him was adapted from an antique wooden example doll from the Grovian Doll Museum Collection.

Cast in a high-quality resin, his face features beautiful modeling and painting, as well as extensive hand work to create his expressive features. His painted-brown eyes are framed by delicately arched, stippled brows. His wig, of natural flax, is handmade by Michael Canadas and crafted with the styling details that are hallmarks of period hairstyles. Each wig is unique, non-removable, and will present variations in style. His body features a head and torso as one, and true to an original doll of this era, his body features jointed upper legs and knees, and his stuffed cotton upper arms attach to the shoulders and terminate in “carved,” graceful, forked hands.

Here, Monsieur Royale wears an elegant, Colonial-era ensemble designed by Michael Canadas and expertly sewn by our in-house artisans. A longline frock coat rendered in fine cotton with a delicate indienne motif print in a palette of vivid pink, blue and rich brown is worn over a pair of britches in our custom made silk in a vivid punch pink hue. A bi-corn hat in green velvet trimmed in cerise gimp trim is worn while cream stockings and wrapped silk shoes complete his presentation.
