Here we have a fully costumed “Lady Noble” our William and Mary style artisan doll crafted by the esteemed doll artist, Karen Clohessy, of Perth, Western Australia. The mold used to create this lady was taken from an antique wooden example doll from the Grovian Doll Museum Collection. Her ladyship is cast in a high-quality resin that captures all of the nuances of the carved wood of the original doll. The face features beautiful modeling and painting, expressive painted-brown eyes, and delicately arched, stippled brows. Her wig, of natural flax, is handmade by Michael Canadas and crafted with the styling details that are hallmarks of period hairstyles. Each wig is unique, non-removable, and will present variations in style. Lady Noble’s body features a head and torso as one, and true to an original doll of this era, her body features jointed upper legs and knees, and his stuffed cotton upper arms attach to the shoulders and terminate in “carved,” graceful, forked hands.

Here, Lady Noble wears her flagship presentation: a lavish, period accurate ensemble designed by Sheryl Williams and Denise Woodward and expertly sewn by our in-house artisans here at the Carmel Doll Shop. The costume is rendered in our custom made silk in a palette of vivid punch pink and rich spruce green and trimmed in gold lace, gold trim, and pearls. A fitted longline jacket in pink silk features a lavish peplum and is worn over a dickie and full lower sleeves of fine cotton. The full skirt of spruce green silk is trimmed in gold lace and features a front panel studded in pearls. A voluminous cape of pink silk is trimmed in gold lace, buttons at the neck and flows gracefully into a subtle train. A wide brimmed hat covered in black velvet and trimmed in gold lace, pink millinery details and a green silk chin strap complete the costume. Stockings and a pair of silk shoes with an embellished toe are included.
