We are pleased to present “Lady Gertrude Arnold” from the talented artisan duo, Alicia and Charles Carver. Lady Arnold is based on one of Queen Victoria’s beloved wooden dolls and has been masterfully realized here by the Carver family. This little lady has all of the features of an antique wooden Grodner Tal including a sweetly expressive face with brown eyes, petal pink cheeks, and a tiny rose hued mouth. Her exquisite hairstyle features delicate face framing curls and a head of glossy black hair with a gilt finished tuck comb (area of finish loss to right side base of comb).
On a jointed wooden body with graceful hands and slender legs terminating in red, slipper style shoes, she wears a gown of loden green silk velvet with pale pink silk ribbon details and leg-of-mutton sleeves in delicate cream net. Underneath, a cream flannel petticoat is worn. She wears an amber bead (to represent a perfume bottle) around her neck and carries a brass-toned bird in her hand.
