Vintage Artist-made "Ring Bearer"
Vintage Artist-made "Ring Bearer"
This young man is upset about something - and we think it may be related to a secret surprise nestled inside of his candy container style torso - a gold-toned wedding band! Details include deep character molding, blue-painted eyes, nice blushing and a distressed, “I don’t wanna!” expression. He boasts a head of wavy molded and painted hair in a sweet titian hue. His body features a bisque upper torso, wired upper arms with a layer of batting, and bisque lower arms in nice condition. His lower body is rendered in sturdy carton with a candy container receptacle lined in foam and holding a costume jewelry wedding band.
The two pieces open and close with ease and remain firmly shut when pieced together. He wears a two-piece costume in cream taffeta and featuring a wide sailor collar and short pants. Cream leather shoes over cream cotton stockings complete his presentation. He remains in nice condition, save for scattered foxing upon his costume. The inner lid of the container is inscribed: U.F.D.C. 1997, by Rosemarie Snyder. The theme for that annual convention was “To Have and To Hold” - which reinforces his ring bearer identification.
