Here we have a wonderful peg jointed wooden body with a china shoulderhead by artist Sherman Smith (1907-1977) who collaborated with Phyllis Juhlin Park (1918-2010) a talented doll artist who created china heads. Features of the china shoulderhead include a wonderfully molded and painted face with gently blushed cheeks, blue eyes and coral lips and a lovely black-painted Sophia Smith hairstyle. Her five-piece peg jointed wooden body features a head and torso as one and graceful limbs that bend easily and hold their pose well. Her lower arms are painted a in a nude tone, while her lower legs feature white painted stockings and dainty, black-painted slippers.
Measures: 5 3/4” tall
