*NEW* Poire à la Beaujolais 1860s: The Coat & Dress Kit
Named after Poire à la Beaujolais, the French winter dessert of pears and wine, this classic costume evokes sugar, spice, and everything nice about winter…
Beloved doll sewist Patti Williams has distilled her knowledge of historic fashion into this kit to create a classic coat and dress ensemble. The period accurate 1860’s style costume, featuring expertly curated materials, includes a classic dress rendered in fine white on white floral print cotton; the bodice and long sleeves are lavished with neatly sewn tucks; and the full, enfantine length skirt is trimmed in delicate lace.
A coat in cream wool felt (copied from an antique Huret-style casque/coat from the 1860s) with covered buttons, bracelet length sleeves, and a gracefully rounded hem at the front opening completes the classic presentation. The coat closes at the bodice, allowing the dress underneath to show, while the bracelet length sleeves also allow cuffs to show.
Accessories include a stylish pork-pie style hat rendered in cream wool felt and embellished with a vintage velvet ribbon, mother of pearl button, and a quail feather. A downy white muff completes the classic look. Sized appropriately for either the classic reproduction Huret doll on a 14-15” jointed resin body or the Carmel Doll Shop Carl Armstrong reproduction Rohmer doll, Mlle. Mathilda. Two separate patterns are included: one for each body type.
The “Poire à la Beaujolais Underpinnings Kit,” also available in the boutique, will provide the perfect silhouette for this costume.
